Depression (major depressive disorder)

It is a common and serious mental disorder that negatively affects how you feel, think, act, and perceive the world.

Women are more likely than men and younger adults are more likely than older adults to experience depression. While depression can occur at any time and any age, on average it can first appear during one’s late teens to mid-20s.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a natural and often helpful response to stress. It can signal potential dangers and help us stay alert. These disorders can lead individuals to avoid situations that worsen their symptoms, affecting their performance at work or school and their relationships. The good news is that anxiety disorders are highly treatable with psychotherapeutic interventions, enabling individuals to lead fulfilling and productive lives.

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

It is one of the most common mental disorders in children. Its symptoms include inattention (difficulty focusing), hyperactivity (excessive movement that is inappropriate for the setting), and impulsivity (making hasty decisions without thinking). It is also prevalent in adults. ADHD is typically first noticed in school-aged children, as it can lead to disruptions in the classroom and problems with schoolwork. It is more frequently diagnosed in boys than in girls.

What is bipolar I disorder?

Bipolar I disorder is a condition that causes periods of severe changes in your mood, activity levels, energy, and ability to carry out everyday tasks. These changes are commonly called “mood episodes.”

Schizoaffective disorder

It is a mental health condition that is marked by a mix of schizophrenia symptoms, such as hallucinations and delusions, and mood disorder symptoms, such as depression, mania and a milder form of mania called hypomania. Hallucinations involve seeing things or hearing voices that others don't observe. Delusions involve believing things that are not real or not true.

Disruptive behaviour and dissocial disorders

Neurodevelopmental disorders

Neurodevelopmental disorders include disorders of intellectual development, autism spectrum disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) amongst others. ADHD is characterised by a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that has a direct negative impact on academic, occupational, or social functioning.

 Opositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)

Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) is a childhood behavioural problem characterised by constant disobedience and hostility. Around one in 10 children under the age of 12 years are thought to have ODD, with boys outnumbering girls by two to one.

Personality disorders are a group of mental disorders. They involve long-term patterns of thoughts and behaviors that are different from what is considered normal in your culture. The thoughts and behaviors are unhealthy and inflexible. They cause serious problems with relationships, work, and social activities. They can make it hard to deal with everyday stresses and problems.
